Parallel pocket books — the publishing house on Adans.

The House Rule

Two languages per book.

pencil is the publishing house on the Adans platform — pocket parallel books, written and published by the house itself. Each book sets the same small story in two languages, page against page, so the two versions can be read against each other.

This page is the catalog window. Print editions are fulfilled through Amazon when they open; the first editions are in preparation. Nothing is for sale yet.

About the series

Night Out Parallel Books. Each book follows one simple night out in town — leaving, arriving, eating, drinking, getting home — set in two languages on facing pages, aligned passage by passage. Read one side, check it against the other; the pair teaches each other.

Every edition carries the full alphabet and phonetics for each of its two languages, and a basic dictionary index at the back gathers the words the night needed. Russian editions print in Cyrillic with a Latin transliteration alongside. The texts are written fresh for each pair — not carried over from another book.

The series rule never bends: exactly two languages per book.

Formats

Each edition is prepared in two forms of the same book:

  • Pocket print — a 5 × 8 in paperback, printed and shipped through Amazon when the edition opens.
  • PDF edition — the same facing-page spreads at the true pocket size, 3.5 × 5.5 in. A parallel book is its spreads, so the PDF keeps them exactly.

Physical first — there is no ebook edition. If readers ask for one, the house will hear them out; until then, the book is a book.

The page says “pocket notebook,” and means the shape, not a brand. Cover art is made in-house.
